東京大学教養学部卒業（アジア地域文化研究）。同大学大学院農学生命科学研究科修士課程修了のち、株式会社三菱総合研究所にて食料・農業分野を中心とする調査・研究業務に従事。現在は、高緯度地域（寒冷地）の食料生産に対して、過去の気候変化および気候の制約を緩和する各種農業技術の導入が及ぼしてきた影響について、20世紀の中国東北部における水稲栽培を事例として取り上げ、定量評価を行うことを試みている。

FUKUHARA Kotaro is a PhD student at the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the University of Tokyo. He received the BA in Arts and Science and the MSc in Agriculture from the University of Tokyo. His main areas of research interest are agricultural and environmental history and agricultural meteorology. He studies historical impacts of climatic and agrotechnical changes on agriculture in high latitudes, especially focusing on rice production growth in Northeast China during the 20th century.
