「グローバルヒストリーの可能性」フォーラムのお知らせ

近年、国内外でグローバルヒストリーという新しい歴史研究の潮流が注目されています。しかし、グローバルヒストリーはなぜ必要なのか、何を明らかにするのか、どのような方法を用いるのかといった基本的な情報は、まだ必ずしも人々に共有されていません。
東京大学東洋文化研究所は、平成26年度から、日本学術振興会研究拠点形成事業（先端拠点形成型）の助成を受け、プリンストン大学（米）、社会科学高等研究 院（仏）、ベルリン・フンボルト大学＋ベルリン自由大学（独）と共同で、「新しい世界史/グローバルヒストリー国際共同研究拠点の構築（Global History Collaborative）」と題する国際研究ネットワークの組織化を進めています。その事業の一環として、大学院学生のための第１回サマースクールが 東京大学で開催されます。海外３拠点のリーダー（代表研究者）がそろって来日するこの機会をとらえ、「グローバルヒストリーの可能性」と題するフォーラム を開催することにしました。グローバルヒストリー研究の意味、可能性と方法、そして各国でのグローバルヒストリーの現状と取組み等について、ネットワークのリーダーが意見・情報を交換するとともに、聴衆との間での質疑の時間も設けます。世界の歴史研究の最前線に触れるまたとない機会です。ぜひ積極的にご参 加ください。

In recent years, a new trend in historical studies known as “global history” has been receiving attention both in Japan and abroad. However, basic information such as why global history is necessary, what can be elucidated by global history, and what methods/approaches are employed in global history is not necessarily widely shared.
The Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia at the University of Tokyo has been working with Princeton University (USA), École des hautes études en sciences socials (France), Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Freie Universität Berlin (Germany) since FY2014 to organize an international research network called the Global History Collaborative Consortium based on funding from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Core-to-Core Program (Strategic Research Networks). As part of this project, the first summer school for graduate school students will be held at the University of Tokyo. Taking advantage of this occasion when leaders (primary investigators) from the three overseas bases of the GHC Consortium will be in Japan at the same time, we have decided to organize a forum titled “The Possibilities of Global History.” In addition to a presentation of opinions and exchange of information by the network leaders on the significance, possibilities, and methods of global history studies along with the current status of global history and initiatives underway in each country, we will set aside time for questions from the audience. It is an unparalleled opportunity to experience the front lines of historical studies in the world. We highly recommend that you take the initiative to participate in this forum.
