植民地時代の中南米の貿易活動と地域形成について関心を持っています。近年の研究のひとつの軸は、植民地と本国をつなぐ大貿易ルートからはずれている地域で展開される、めだたない商品の流通や、非合法的貿易活動が、その地域の経済的特徴や民族生成とどういった関係を持っているのかという点です。もう一つの軸は、17世紀にメキシコ市に在住していたセファルディ系商人の書き残した帳簿や手紙類から、彼の商業活動をミクロに再構成することです。

FUSHIMI Takeshi received his PhD from University of Tokyo. His main areas of research interests lie in the commercial activities and regional formations in the colonial Latin America. Actually he conduct research on the commercial activities of the minor regions not situated in the major transatlantic trading routes, such as Yucatan and Mosquito Coast, and their impacts on the ethnogenesis in such frontier spaces. In another line of research, he tries to reconstruct comercial activities of a Sephardi merchant living in Mexico City in the 17th century based on his accounting books and letters.
