2004年一橋大学大学院社会学研究科後期博士課程修了（社会学博士）、専攻はロシア社会経済史。帝政ロシアと近世江戸時代の日本の関係史への関心を出発点に、その原因であるロシアの毛皮交易史、イルクーツク商人史、露清貿易、ロシア領アメリカ（アラスカ）史、ロシア・アメリカ会社史について研究してきた。また最近は露清貿易に関連してロシアの茶貿易も研究しており、これらの研究からグローバルな歴史の問題をローカルな視点から再構築したいと考えている。

MORINAGA Takako gained her PhD in literature at Kyoto University in 2005. MORINAGA Takako majors Social and Economic History of Imperial Russia. She obtained doctorate at Graduate School of Social Sciences, Hitotsubashi University in 2004. She has been interested in the cross cultural history between Japan and Russia in 18-19 centuries. Then researched the history of Russian fur trade, particularly the history of Irkutsk merchants, Russo -Chinese trade, Russian -American company and Russian America. Currently, she is also interested in the history of tea trade around Eurasia and North Pacific Ocean. Her aim for these studies is to reconstruct or reinterpret the global history from the local point of view.
