村上 衛MURAKAMI Ei

主たる研究テーマは清末民国期の華南の社会経済史、17世紀から現在までの東・南シナ海海域史・華人史であり、主著は『海の近代中国』である。2012年以来「近現代中国における社会経済制度の再編」という共同研究班を組織して、前近代に社会・経済を規定してきた制度が近現代にいかに変容・持続してきたのかを共同で検討している。

MURAKAMI Ei is Associate Professor of the Institute for Research in Humanities, Kyoto University, Japan and Chief of the Research Center for Modern and Contemporary China. He obtained his PhD from the University of Tokyo in 2012. Since then, he has organized a research group for studying the “Reorganization of Social and Economic Institutions in Modern China.” His main academic interests are the socio-economic history of southern China during the late Qing and early Republican period, the maritime history of the East and South China Seas from the 17th century to the present, and the history of overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia. He is the author of Umi no Kindai Chugoku: Fukkenjin no katsudo to Igirisu/Shincho (A Maritime History of Modern China: Local Fujian Actors and the British and Chinese Empires), Nagoya: The University of Nagoya Press, 2013.
