2010年、早稲田大学人間科学部卒業。2013年、東京大学大学院総合文化研究科修士課程修了（科学史・科学哲学）。現在、同博士課程所属 。日本学術振興会特別研究員（DC1）（2013年4月から2016年3月）を経て、ハーバード・イェンチェン研究所訪問研究員（2016年8月から2017年12月）。専攻は日本医療史で、博士論文のテーマは日本におけるアメリカ医療宣教の歴史。具体的には、開国後から第二次大戦後まで に注目し、ドイツ医学に範をとった医制を構築していく日本において、プロテスタント諸教派から派遣されたアメリカ人医療宣教師たちが 、キリスト教と西洋医学（アメリカ医学）をどのように普及させていくかについて検討している。その他の関心として、アーカイブズ学、 博物館学、および医療・衛生映画史など。

Hiro Fujimoto is a doctoral student in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, the University of Tokyo. He is a Visiting Fellow of the Harvard-Yenching Institute from August 2016 to December 2017. He received a B.A. from Waseda University in 2010 and a M.A. from the University of Tokyo in 2013. His major is the history of medicine in modern Japan, and his dissertation theme is the history of the American medical missions in Japan. He examines how the Protestant American medical missionaries tried to spread Christianity as well as Western medicine (American medicine) to compete with German-educated Japanese physicians from the 1850s to the 1950s. He is also interested in archives studies, museum studies, and the history of medical films.
