The first GHC Junior Members' Workshop was held at Main Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia, The University of Tokyo on March 14th, 2019. The aim of the meeting was to share experiences of junior members through activities of GHC and research results, and have prospects for future research. As shown below, the speakers were five young researchers.

There were the seventeen participants, who were GHC junior members, young researchers interested in this project, and Professor Masashi Haneda, leader of the Japanese team for the GHC. After the reports, participants enthusiastically discussed various subjects on global history. Firstly, as the problem on global history, they talked about the necessity to take into account contexts of the research in Japan, Asian countries and the Islamic world although some junior members had good opportunities for studying abroad, especially in Western countries. Furthermore, participants lively discussed a suitable plan for joint research among junior members, exploiting their wide-ranging special fields of study. Prof. Haneda, as a comment on the future research of junior members, recommended them to plan workshops continuously and make time for an exhaustive debate. In sum, this workshop was a meaningful opportunity motivating junior members to be engaged in understanding what global history is.（Takuya MOMMA）
